The Lamprechts

Sacrament

When I take a math test, after I finish, I use my extra time to go back and check my work. Sometimes, I find a mistake, and I have a chance to fix it before my teacher checks my test.

Paul taught us that “if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged” (1 Corinthians 11:31). This life is like a big test, and after this life, Heavenly Father is going to check our work.

Heavenly Father doesn’t want to punish us for our mistakes, but he does expect us to learn from them. So, Paul says that we should check our own work. If we do, then we can fix our mistakes before our test ends and Heavenly Father will be pleased with our work.

One of the best times to check our work is during the sacrament. Paul taught, “let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup” (1 Corinthians 11:28). During the sacrament I think about three things:

  1. I think about Jesus and things that he did.
  2. I think about what I did well last week.
  3. I think about what one thing I should do better in the next week.

I know Heavenly Father wants us to check our work.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
