Before any of us came to earth, we lived with Heavenly Father as his spirit children. “And there stood one among [us] that was like unto God” (Abraham 3:24). His name was Jehovah, but we usually call him Jesus. We lived with him a long time. He was our friend.
One day Heavenly Father talked to all of us. He said he would make an earth for us. He said we could go to earth and get a body. God said we would be tested on earth, where we could learn and grow. He did not want to make us obey him. He would like us to choose.
God chose Jesus to save us from our bad choices, but there was another, Lucifer, who had a different plan. Lucifer, who we usually call Satan, wanted to make us obey and take away our freedom to choose.
God let us choose to follow Jesus or Satan. There was a big war in heaven over this choice. Those who followed Satan were cast out of heaven. Those who chose to follow Jesus are here today.
I testify that if we keep following Jesus, we can follow him all the way back to live with Heavenly Father again in the celestial kingdom.
